Compatibility
Fits MK6, MK7, MK7.5, MK8, and TDI Sportwagon models.
NOTE: Does not reduce throw on a 19+ GLI.
Weight Comparison
Weighing in at a solid 440g! The stock knob only weighs 100g.
Throw Reduction
This shift knob reduces the throw of your shifter by 28% over stock by shortening the height by 2 whole inches. Pair this with our Short Shift Transmission Adapter for a combined reduction of 48% over stock.
Design Features
These shift knobs feature a precision CNC machined brass core for added weight as well as a delrin shell for durability, excellent appearance, and temperature management. A heavier shift knob puts the weight towards the end of the shift lever. This increased momentum while shifting provides a greater mechanical advantage, allowing for a much more positive feeling throw when rowing through the gears.
The delrin shell, with a laser-etched Boomba logo, prevents the surface of the shift knob from getting too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. These shift knobs make a great addition to your MK7 interior! They are secured to your shifter with various set screws.
Manufacturing Details
This shift knob is designed and manufactured in Boomba's own facility, right here in the United States, and all mounting hardware is included.

Overall satisfied and would recommend
Good quality and feel, with pretty straightforward installation. I struggled a bit when trying to cut shift boot from oem knob, but besides that was simple and easy install.

Great value and quality. Don’t count this small brand out.
This was a great upgrade for my 2010 GTI. I seriously hated how light the stock knob felt especially after installing the DieselGeek short shifter, but I didn’t want to spend $200+ on a shift knob right now. This ended up being a great alternative! It arrived within two days (luckily I live in Chicago right near their facility). Immediately after taking it out of the box, you could feel the weight difference. Installing it was a breeze especially because I had already removed the stock knob once before to install a custom shift boot so I avoided needing to cut the boot (which you don’t really need to do anyways if you can get the ring clip off the stock knob. The tightening mechanism is perfect and really keeps the knob on the rod without any movement whatsoever. I’ve also changed all of the inserts/bushings that you can possibly replace, so there’s no slop in my system whatsoever now. The only thing I wish was better was the method to keep the boot attached to the bottom of the knob with the zip tie. It keeps slipping off and I’ve tried a number of different zip ties in different sizes hoping it would stop slipping off. If the gold metal ring at the bottom of the knob had a small lip at the bottom of it, I think that would solve the problem because it’d keep the zip tie from slipping off. Overall, great shift knob for the price and I’d highly recommend it to anyone that wants to enjoy driving their 6spd GTI!

Great but tutorial didn’t apply to me
The video tutorial showing how to install did not have my car but fit it perfectly. Just watched something on youtube instead but great product and weight difference and shape feels nice

Boomba weighted shift knob for MK7.5 VW Golf R
Just installed the weighted shift knob on my 2018 VW Golf R MK7.5, it already had the quick shift kit installed but this has transformed it. Very easy, quick and positive shifts now ... I wouldn't install the quick shift kit without it, it's that good :-)

Easy install and quality product very happy with it

Highly recommend
I was hesitant at first about buying a new shift knob for my MK7 golf just because how destructive the removal process is to the old knob. However, now I couldn’t be happier. The only minor thing I wasn’t a fan of was that I did cut down the shaft that the knob fits on just to get the knob lower. My car is a TDI and from what I’ve found out GTI’s don’t require cutting because the shaft is already significantly shorter.
