This extremely durable and high-quality adapter installs easily onto the existing input bracket on top of your MK7 GTI/Golf R transmission. No OEM parts need to be removed or modified during the installation process. Once installed, the adapter plate reduces shifter throws by 28%. CNC machined out of billet steel and weighing in at 270g, the increased weight aids in shifting momentum and positive engagement, improving the overall feel of your shifting experience.
The adapter bracket is designed and manufactured in Boomba's own facility, right here in the United States, and all mounting hardware is included. All adapter plates and hardware are zinc plated for durability and excellent appearance. A definite mod for daily drivers as well as autocross and road racing enthusiasts alike!

This shift knob reduces the throw of your shifter by 28% over stock by shortening the height by 2 inches. Pair this with our Short Shift Transmission Adapter for a combined reduction of 48% over stock.
These shift knobs feature a precision CNC machined brass core for added weight as well as a Delrin shell for durability, excellent appearance, and ‘temperature management’. A heavier shift knob puts the weight towards the end of the shift lever. This increased momentum while shifting provides a greater mechanical advantage, allowing for a much more positive feeling throw when rowing through the gears. The Delrin shell, with a laser-etched Boomba logo, prevents the surface of the shift knob from getting too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. These shift knobs make a great addition to your MK7 interior! They are secured to your shifter with various set screws.

Boomba quick shift kit for MK7
I drive a 2015 Sportwagen TDI and have been less than impressed with the notchy feeling of a couple of the gear shifts on this car. It made sense to me that a heavier knob would smooth things out, but I was worried that the reduced throw of the transmission adapter might magnify the problem I was feeling. Boy was I wrong! I absolutely love the way my car feels now. I actually get a little excited with anticipation each time I open the door. The feel is so sporty and positive now. Just the right amount of throw reduction. Much quicker through the gears. I recommend doing the shifter linkage adjustment at the same time and you will be as thrilled as I am.

Transmission adapter/shift knob
The easiest install of a short shifter and can't believe how much shorter the shift is. Then added with the shift knob is crazy short throws. This was best mod so far for the 6MT. Craftmenship is on point.

Fantastic short shift kit
This short shift kit is a fantastic, easy, low cost mod for your manual GTI! I'm pretty new to car mods and fun cars in general. I love my 2015 GTI that I got a few months ago, but this short shift kit has made it feel like a totally new car. It feels incredible! Much more precise, easy, fast shifts. It was also a breeze to install. Highly recommended. I do have one question: have you guys had any cases of the bolts on the shift adapter plate loosening? I'm wondering if I should put loctite on them to be safe?
