VW TRANSMISSION ADAPTER

One of the easiest installs ever! Huge improvement over stock! Highly recommend!

Hats off to boomba for what has to be the easiest improvement possible to the shift linkage on this platform! Bigger difference than you might think, after install I almost couldn't believe I was in gear!

The shifts are way shorter and quicker and I no longer get that rougher notchiness feeling going in and out of the gates. Super smooth and super easy install. Install takes literally 5 minutes to do. Would recommend to anyone on the fence about this.

I had no problems with the stock shifter in my Mk7 GTI, it featured a throw that was on par with may of the stock vehicles that I have owned in my lifetime. However a lot of the modified cars I owned and raced featured shorter throws, either from various kits, specialty transmissions or various shoe-horn modifications to make everything fit. I stumbled across the thread on this product at golfmk7 forum and I started to think about reducing the throw in my car. Given my seating position, putting the car into 1,3 or 6 required me to be fully extended on my shifting arm at the top of my reach. Also I did not want to tear up my car to install a full on shift kit that cost me 200-300 dollars depending on the brand. I also liked this option due to the ease of installation and removal should I need to pay a call to the dealer. Since I could not find a single negative review between multiple car forums I decided that this would be a good choice for me. I recieved the adapater and immediately noted that the material and machining was quite good. I even weighted in on my small kitchen scale to check the advertised weight and found it to be pretty spot on. Installation was as easy as pie, given that I accidentally dropped the washer that comes with the piece and had to fish it out from my under tray like an idiot. There was a small gap at the rear screw location as some people had also reported to which Boomba has confirmed is normal with these units. Given the casting variation in between shifter forks for a mass produced car I would agree with them on this. The unit was still fixed quite steadily, I plan to check the bolts every now and then more for piece of mind to myself, I have not seen anyone complain about the adapter coming loose so I do not expect any trouble. Before installation I laughed at the fact that so many people commented that the throw reduction felt like way more then 28%. After installation I became out of those people. It feels like more than 28%! The throw is noticeably reduced, creating a really tightly gated feeling on the shifter that felt very similar to custom gear boxes of my past. The effort to shift is slightly increased by a very small margin, it is difficult to quantify as the longer throw allowed you to build required shift momentum over that longer distance and now with the distance being reduced and the added weight of the adapter assisting in momentum. Side to side distance is still the same so there is no chance of a "whoops" moment when downshifting but the throw distance is shorter by a very nice amount and makes driving the car that little bit more enjoyable. Overall if you do not want to to pay over 200 dollars for a fully adjustable, multi-piece short shifter kit, with what is most likely an annoying installation process, this piece is for you! Quality is great, result is great and the price cannot be beaten.

Installation was very easy, 5 mins to take off the air box and only a couple minutes to un-do the clip and attach short shift adapter. The quality of the piece is amazing, looks and feels great. Once installed, I could tell an immediate difference. Throw seems to be reduced more then 28%! Feels great to change gears and if you ever want to go back to stock its a 7 minute job. Best short shifter for the price!

This short shift transmission adapter by far has been my favorite mod on my car. The quality of machinery of this product is top notch! I can't stress enough how easy the installation is on this shifter, 5 minutes later and your done. The shifts are tight and smooth and you can't beat the price of this product. This is a must buy for any mk7 and will recommend this to anyone! Great job Boomba Racing!
